 Working Hours:

Work at the government offices and banks and some commercial companies starts daily at 8 am ends by 3 pm.
The private sector starts off generally from 8 am and lasts to 12:30 to commence again from 4 to 8 in the evening.
Commercial shops and stores open from 8 am in the morning and until 5 pm and some could last to 10 in the night.

Holidays:

Weekend is Thursdays and Fridays where the two days are official holidays at government offices, however in the private sector Thursday is half day and Friday is an official holiday. Religious and national holidays are as follows:

  • Eid alfitr is generally a 5 days holiday that starts according to the moon calendar from 29th Ramadan and until 3rd of Shawal.
  • Islamic New year first of Moharam which is the day of the Prophet migration to Madina al-Manawara.
  • Labor day on the first day of May
  • National day for the republic on the 22nd of May (Unity day)
  • 26 September (the September revolution)
  •  Independence day from the British occupation on the 30th November.

 

Press:

The number of newspapers, magazines and government, public and private bulletins in the republic reaches 74 newspapers, magazines and bulletin.

External Media:

Yemeni market has opened its doors for international newspapers, magazines, arabic and foreign, as well as for the international channels though the satellite.
Yemeni satellite channel presents Yemeni to the international community through the scenes and programs and various tourist projects that are publicized through the channel to promote Yemen and to attract international tourism.

Monetary and Bank services:

Most banks in Yemen provide various banking services in addition to the usual savings and current accounts such as credit cards (visa cards, master cards...etc) through the international networks.

Electricity:

Telecommunication services:

Services such telephones, fax and internet are easily provided in all the country. And there are other telecommunication systems other than the local system and they are:

  • Teleyemen fo mobile communication
  • Sabaphone, Spacetel for GSM services
  • Al Thuraiya for satellite communication

It is possible to obtain any of those services or informations from any of the telecommunication centers spread in the republic, or in the telecommunication services offices and our travel agency.

Entry and exit points:

Access to the country can take place either through air, land and sea as follows:

  • Airports: there are 6 airports in the country and they are located in: Sana’a, Aden, Taiz, Houdeidah, Al Raiyan (Hadramout), and Saiyun.
  • Land entry points: there are terrestrial entrances and exits to Yemen through land and they are: Haradh, gate in the North West, al Baq’a gate in the north and Habrout gate in the East.
  • Sea ports: Yemen has five ports on the Red and the Arabian seas: Aden, Houdeida, al Mokha, al Mukala and Salief. 

Transportation:

Yemen is connected internally through 13 internal ports located around the country, Yemen Airways conduct regular flights between those ports, refer to our “Air companies” section for exact dates and timing.
